Gosh, when I think about the pandemic and I think about what it was like, all I can think about is my kids and my spouse, my partner, and how hard it was on them and on us as a family. But in some ways, what we went through made us a lot stronger. a lot stronger as a family. And I’m very grateful for that. There’s a lot of growth and learning from those times.
And we are definitely forever bonded. And when I think about when the vaccine came out, there was this great video that Boston, some hospital in Boston put out of the doctors and nurses doing a dance. And I remember watching it and starting to cry because it just gave so much hope and it was pretty remarkable how fast the vaccine was made and we were able to maybe overcome what we had been experiencing for the past year.
And I think the most poignant memory I have, and it’s something I still have on my phone, is a picture of my husband. Who had just gotten his vaccine and he was sitting there waiting for the 20 minutes before he could leave. And I still have it as the main picture on my phone because he’s a type one diabetic.
And I was always so worried about him being a diabetic and what COVID could do to him. So knowing that he was getting vaccinated was just such a relief and I think I hold on to that picture as a reminder of how close things came for us and how we made it through. And it’s a reminder of who really matters in your life.
And for that, I’m grateful every day.
