The pandemic left me without a job. I knew it was going to happen because I was working at the Flatirons mall, which basically felt like being at ground zero. So I knew once that happens, a lot of stuff was going to change. Though, when I did have to change jobs during the pandemic, the one thing that they kept telling us is that as essential workers, that we were superheroes.
That, in fact, was the one thing I did not feel the entire time I was working. I did not feel like a superhero. I felt like I was actually being used the entire time.
