Pandemia de COVID en marzo del año, se me pidió que dejara de trabajar con el público y que trabajara de una manera remota o virtualmente, algo que nunca había hecho un mes después, mi hija mayor con mucha alegría, fue aceptada la la universidad de Wisconsin en Madison. En mayo del se hizo una ceremonia muy solemne sin baile sin fiesta, en donde los chicos se graduaron.
Y dos meses más tarde en agosto, íbamos rumbo al estado de Wisconsin a la capital Madison a su primer año de universidad, una pandemia que nada que nadie había experimentado en nuestra época en nuestra vida. La última pandemia había sido en España. Era algo aterrador y dejamos con mucha ilusión y esperanza a mi hija.
Cientos de millas apartada de nuestra familia por primera vez en su vida sola en un lugar desconocido en un dormitorio de cuatro por cuatro con una compañera de habitación. Un mes más tarde, mi hija desgraciadamente contrajo el virus de COVID. Fue apartada de los demás y estuvo un mes sola en una habitación mientras la gente moría.
Y mientras la gente estaba entubada en hospitales, algo aterrador, día a dia, nos comunicábamos y. Sobrevivió y está bien, y terminó su año escolar el año siguiente en el perdí desgraciadamente, antes de que la vacuna saliera al mercado a dos amigos queridos uno en estados unidos y un a en la ciudad de México sin decir adiós, nunca volví a ver a mis amistades queridas.
The COVID Pandemic. Once in a lifetime. In March 2020, I was requested by my boss to stop working with the public and to work remotely or virtually, something I had never done before . A month later in April 2020 my daughter was accepted to the University of Wisconsin in Madison – what wonderful news.
In May, she only had a little graduation very quietly and there was no prom, no beautiful dance, no get-togethers, and no celebration. In August of 2020, I was on my way to Wisconsin to drop off my beautiful daughter in a dorm about ten by ten with another roommate.
The CDC continued to tell us that it was only going to last a few months. My daughter began her college life, and a month later she was diagnosed with contracting the COVID virus. Terrifying news for my family and for my daughter away for the first time. Away for the first time without support and without knowing exactly what the COVID virus may do. People were losing their lives and reports were that people were going to the hospitals and being intubated and people were dying.
Only In the lifetime that we have experienced this my daughter survived and in 2021, I lost two dear friends. Friends of more than thirty years, without saying goodbye, and in such a rapid form that it was hard to believe and hard to digest. I miss my friends.
My daughter is with me and this year she will be graduating. But the first year of college will be something to remember for the rest of our lives.
